The prices on tires are not as good as they make them out to be so shop around. Don't assume you're getting a good deal just because it's Costco. Getting an appointment for tire installation can be challenging because their tire garage is usually packed with cars.
Love and enjoy shopping here. It makes it even better when you're hungry and go on the weekends and they have the samples to help you get through your shopping experience and try some new products. You usually can find someone to help you and staff is very friendly. The propane and tire guys are exceptional having to stop what they're doing with the tires to come and fill propane and never show any signs of frustration and having to stop a job to tend to another customer who's needing propane.
Their meat is superb. So are their cheeses and veggies. My very favorite $12 wine WITH sales tax is less than the Redstone Arsenal Class 6 WITHOUT sales tax by $2.50 a bottle. We live 60 miles away (one way), so we don't come here often; when we do, it's stock-up time
The merchandise quality seems to have slipped as well, especially the meat and produce. If you are buying meat, check the date on the packaging! It's not uncommon to see meat that expires on the next day.
Typical Costco. I've been a member here for the past 10 years and I have to say that the customer service, while still good, is nowhere near as good as it used to be. Some of the customer service personnel have major attitudes and act like you are bothering them. This store tends to be ridiculously crowded, so we try to time our visits to non-peak hours.
Always spend more than I intended to but the bargains abound..love that the checkouts move so fast. An added bonus is that their gas price is almost always the cheapest around and of very high quality. I also get 4% or about 9 cents per gallon off that is paid at a later date.
On the plus side, they sell high quality gasoline at a great price - but lines at the pumps can be very long on weekends and afternoons. Also, expect to have run-ins with the typical elitist Costco customer transplanted from a somewhere other than Alabama. I have seen some "road rage" incidents in the parking lot and at the gas station.
I have been a member of Costco for almost 10 years. Staff is so friendly and helpful. Sometimes buying in bulk can be a blessing. You don't have to go to the store all the time. It is worth it.
If I had to compare / contrast this Costco store to the local Sam's locations, I'd say that Sam's has better general merchandise but truly horrible customer service. Costco has better gasoline, better customer service, and a larger selection of organic and all-natural products.
