Highly recommend the gunsmith attached to JC's guns. It is run independently of Jr's and is called Heinrichs gunsmith. It is family owned and operated by a wonderful husband and wife team with years of experience. They are reasonably priced and the work is exceptional.
The prices are horrendous. They wanted 50 dollars for a dragged through hell and back GI mag. They wanted thirty dollars for an Orlite mag, which if you know anything about AR mags is something people usually toss in the trash bin. Strangely, they did not have any guns when I was there.
I've heard that Jr's is under new management but regardless, Heinrichs is the best in the valley.
This is a good spot to get some shooting gear the prices are okay here are several other locations in the area that are cheaper. Its worth a stop in every now and again to see if they have any sales.
DO NOT SHOP HERE! I am newly wed, government contractor who was trying to buy my first gun for my wife and I to protect ourselves in our new home. I made a simple mistake on the Firearms Transaction Record form and when I asked if I could correct my mistake, I was told no and that I would not be able to make a firearm purchase for an indefinite period of time! I checked 1 box incorrectly and was refused service indefinitely. I tried to appeal to the owner of the store to allow me to fill out another form, he refused and reiterated that my inability to purchase was indefinite. I admit, the mistake was mine but the call was his. Do not expect to be treated well here!
Having been a customer at JC's several times and snagging the (pretty rare) good deal there, I have been willing to give them a second chance a couple times. Their ammo and mag prices are stuck in 2013. They had a pile of beat up GI AR15 mags and they were asking $50 a piece. I ask if they were firm on that price, so she heads to ask JC. Firm. It's 2016 and they're still asking $50 for a $7 mag. Their gun prices can be fair, though don't get your hopes up. The staff are usually friendly, although they seem they'll say anything to get you to buy a gun there (including lying to people about some features and history of a particular firearm). The best deals to be found there are usually stuff that fell behind the shelf years ago with old price tags. The only thing keeping the from getting one star are the three good deals I've found there in the past 4 years. Cabelas, other local gun and pawn shops, and Larry's are the way to go for better (and more negotiable) prices all around. I want to give them another second chance but the price gouging does it in for me.
