The service was great but one of the dressing rooms didn’t lock... Also everything sold is reallllllly pricey (I bought one jacket for $145 yikes)
While the selection is excellent, and the staff knowledgable, the prices are off-putting. I mean, I get that it's in Bridge Street, but surely something can be done other than MSRP.
DO NOT BUY SALE ITEMS HERE! Even if you return an item purchased on sale the VERY NEXT DAY, they will only give you store credit or exchange. This is typed really tiny on your receipt and they SAY their associate is supposed to tell you at time of purchase - which I was not. I bought Chacos for 30% off yesterday and went to return them today. It was a complete hassle and then a total insult that they called the location of purchase (Bob Wallace) right in front of me at the counter to actually ask whomever answered the phone if they told me about the policy when I purchased the shoes - when I had just told the guy (at Bridge Street) they had not. So, especially if you are purchasing an item you aren't sure about...don't buy it on sale, or just don't buy it at Mountain High at all. Too many other options with better return polices that won't treat you like a jerk.
While visiting Alabama on a business trip and looking for a souvenir to take back home i had all of the young hipster employees hovering around me, not asking if i need help but making sure i wasnt going shoplift anything.... as soon as i picked up a hat they asked if they could put it behind the counter. A bunch of rude little kids. Instead of feeling Southern hospitality I feel like i need to get out of this state and never come back.
The customer service here is unparalleled by any other outdoors store I've visited. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, which is surprising given they don't work on commission. The shop has come a long way in the past few years with improvements both in selection of gear/clothes as well as staff. As a locally owned small business, it fits like a gem in the Bridge Street Shopping Centre, and has infinitely more charm and appeal when compared to a conglomerate such as REI or the likes thereof. They also offer a 10% military discount. I will definitely continue to shop there, and recommend it to my friends and fellow outdoorsmen.
