Every year, the Huntington Botanical Gardens produces the Galaxy of Lights, which is a Christmas lights extravaganza featuring larger-than-life animated light displays. The displays include Santa soaring over a delightful winter village. Nursery rhyme characters dance and frolic among traditional scenes of the season. And, best of all, experience the magic of the twinkling icicle forest. Galaxy of Lights is the perfect holiday treat for the young and young-at-heart. The Galaxy Light display depends on volunteers to man each night and welcomes any new group or family willing to participate in the production of the display. The proceeds from the displays goes to the maintenance of the botanical gardens, which during the day, offers an amazing opportunity to see and roam this very extensive garden.
WOW! This was one of the most beautiful botanical gardens I've ever had the pleasure to visit. The grounds were impeccable, and the kinetic sculptures throughout were enchanting and enhanced the natural beauty of the gardens themselves. The flowers were still in bloom in September, which was a nice surprise. They had decorated for fall with scarecrows and a sorghum maze which were cute touches for the season. The admission of $12 is not bad because you can spend hours out there enjoying the scenery. They also offer discounts for military service people, teachers, and members of the Redstone credit union. There is ample parking and a really nice gift shop as well. The butterfly house is very nice, and there are plenty of little "side parks" for children and adults to enjoy. I honestly can't wait to come back!
Have always loved the annual holiday “Galaxy of Lights”. Visited this year, post-$$$+ renovations which resulted in quite the improvements that look to accommodate multiple wedding/event venues. Great place to spend a good-weather day outdoors. Knowledgeable staff. Over-the-top venue space. Worth the trip if in town.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Galaxy of lights walk through. The lights are spectacular! The volunteers are friendly and so helpful. The hot chocolate was good and it really hit the spot. I recommend the walk through to everyone. It's a nice family friendly walk. You can go at your own pace and really take in all the sites and sounds. We loved it.
There is a lot to see and enjoy at the botanical gardens. There are plenty of play areas for the kids. The gardens seem to always have something going on such as the galaxy of lights tour that they have around Christmas. In the fall they have a lot of nice decorations, like the scarecrow trail and neat sculptures made from gourds. On occasion they have animatronic dinosaurs. The facility is a great place for conventions. There is a gift shop and a snack bar inside.
